If you're craving bold, flavorful dishes with a rich Latin heritage, Cuchifrito is the place to be. Located at 4 E Main St, Middletown, NY 10940, this charming spot brings the taste of Puerto Rican cuisine to the heart of the Hudson Valley. The name "Cuchifrito" itself hints at the star of the menu-mouth-watering fried pork, a dish beloved in Puerto Rican culture. But there's more to explore at this welcoming eatery, with an array of traditional favorites that capture the essence of island life.

As you walk through the door of Cuchifrito, you're greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The vibrant colors and the delicious aromas immediately set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're here for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, the friendly staff ensures you'll feel at home.

The menu at Cuchifrito offers a fantastic variety of Puerto Rican dishes, each prepared with care and packed with flavor. The Cuchifrito plate, of course, is the star of the show. Crispy, golden fried pork is served with a side of arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas) and tostones (fried green plantains). This combination offers a perfect balance of savory, crunchy, and tender textures that will satisfy even the most discerning palate.

Another favorite on the menu is the mofongo, a traditional Puerto Rican dish made from mashed plantains, garlic, and seasoning. The dish is often served with pork, shrimp, or chicken, and the result is an irresistible, hearty meal. If you’re looking for something a little lighter, the empanadas filled with seasoned meat, cheese, or vegetables are a great choice. They’re crispy on the outside and delightfully savory on the inside.

For those who prefer a more adventurous bite, Cuchifrito's menu also features dishes like the arroz mamposteao (a flavorful rice and beans combo), pastelón (a Puerto Rican version of lasagna with layers of plantains), and a range of seafood options. No matter your preference, there's always something to try that will transport you straight to Puerto Rico.

What truly sets Cuchifrito apart is the commitment to authentic ingredients and cooking methods. The owners take great pride in bringing the traditional flavors of Puerto Rican cuisine to their community, using fresh, high-quality ingredients to create dishes that feel like they're straight out of a family kitchen. It’s clear that the recipes are crafted with both love and expertise, ensuring that each dish delivers a true taste of Puerto Rican culture.

The restaurant is also a fantastic spot for takeout if you're craving a delicious meal at home. Whether you’re ordering the classic Cuchifrito plate or trying something new, you can count on the same quality and flavor to shine through. The convenience of takeout, combined with the quality of the food, makes Cuchifrito a favorite among locals who want to enjoy restaurant-quality meals without leaving their home.

For those looking to enjoy a full meal, Cuchifrito offers generous portions that make it easy to share. Whether you're with family or friends, it's a great place to enjoy a feast and explore the diverse flavors of Puerto Rican cuisine. • My husband and I ordered arroz con gandules(rice with peas) with bistec encebollado(steak stew with onions) and plátano maduro(sweet plantain). This plate was amazing and I’m extremely picky with my Puerto Rican food, not many people can do it like you can at home but Cuchifrito got it right.. It tasted just like home, flavor, flavor, flavor????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
